Conta Azul has spent more than a decade helping Brazilian businesses manage their finances, serving around 100,000 companies and the accounting offices that work with them. Now part of Visma, the company is expanding from financial management into payments, and that changes the risk picture. A payments business carries a larger and faster-moving fraud surface than an ERP alone, and Conta Azul's anti-fraud function has become a more strategic part of the company as a result.

Brazil is also one of the most demanding fraud environments in the world. Attackers are swift and coordinated, and the teams defending against them must adapt just as fast. Conta Azul wanted infrastructure built for that reality.

Autonomy, without waiting on the engineering queue

Conta Azul’s anti-fraud team wanted a platform it could own and operate without depending on engineering. That meant building and tuning rules directly, testing changes safely, and responding to new fraud patterns without joining a development queue.

After working with rigid tooling in the past, the team wanted software that could adapt to its program rather than force the program into a fixed model. It also needed to work with Conta Azul's own data, connect to the third-party services already in use, and give analysts and strategists direct control.

One platform, shaped around Conta Azul's own data

Conta Azul is bringing three parts of its fraud program onto Oscilar: KYC and KYB for individual and business onboarding, transaction monitoring, and case management.

Several design choices stood out during the evaluation. Oscilar is schema-agnostic, so Conta Azul can send data in its existing structure instead of adapting to a fixed model. That keeps the team in control and helps shorten implementation. Oscilar also manages third-party integrations directly, connecting the external data services Conta Azul already uses and building new integrations as needed. This reduces the burden on engineering and gives the fraud team more independence. The platform also lets the fraud team test and introduce changes safely, with historical backtesting, shadow mode, and controlled rollouts before anything goes fully live.

AI built into rule-building and case review

Oscilar's Workflow Agent lets the team create and adjust rules in plain language rather than code. An agent reviews rule performance and recommends new rules and refinements against historical data, so the team can keep detection sharp as patterns change. And with case management, AI-generated summaries give analysts a fast read on what is happening in an alert, which shortens the time spent on each investigation. The team plans to expand its use of Oscilar's agentic capabilities over time.

Key benefits of the partnership

  • Unified fraud and onboarding operations: Onboarding (KYC and KYB), transaction fraud monitoring, and case management on a single platform, in place of fragmented tooling.

  • Controls the fraud team owns: The team builds and adjusts rules directly and tests new strategies without waiting on engineering.

  • A platform shaped around Conta Azul's data: A schema-agnostic design lets the team send its own data in its own structure, with third-party services connected by Oscilar.

  • Faster, safer iteration: Backtesting, shadow mode, and controlled rollout let the team try changes before they go fully live.

  • AI-assisted rule building and case review: A natural-language copilot for building rules, an agent that recommends and refines them, and AI summaries that speed up investigations.

  • Room to scale: Capacity to grow as Conta Azul expands into payments and scales within Visma.

  • A path to more agentic AI capabilities: Access to adopt more agentic capabilities with Oscilar's Agent Hub.

Room to scale as Conta Azul grows within Visma

For Conta Azul, the decision ultimately came down to choosing a platform that matched both its operating model and its ambitions. As the company grows within Visma and expands into payments, it needs a fraud and risk foundation that can support its program today and grow with the business over time. That foundation is now taking shape.

"For us, fraud prevention is not only about stopping losses, it is becoming a strategic part of how Conta Azul grows," said Bruno Coconici Rodrigues, Head of Anti-Fraud at Conta Azul. "What I am most excited about is the pace we can work at now. We can test an idea, see how it performs, and put it into production ourselves. As we scale within Visma, that speed is what keeps us ahead."

"Conta Azul is the kind of partner we want to build with for the long term: a market leader expanding into payments in one of the world's most demanding fraud environments," said Neha Narkhede, co-founder and CEO of Oscilar. "Brazil is central to Oscilar's growth, and as Conta Azul takes on more real-time risk decisions, our role is to give its team the control, flexibility, and AI capabilities to move as fast as fraud."
