Mastercard Match (Member Alert to Control High-risk Merchants) is a global database maintained by Mastercard that enables acquiring banks and payment processors to screen merchants before onboarding. The system contains records of merchants who have been terminated by other acquirers for reasons including fraud, excessive chargebacks, money laundering, or violation of card brand standards. Match helps acquirers reduce risk by identifying potentially problematic merchants before entering into a processing agreement.
